Mountainfarming
Maximilian Leitner’s farm in Krammersdorf near Hohenau/Raab covers a total area of 162 hectares. Of these, 18 hectares are farmland, 44 hectares are mountain pasture and the rest consists of forest. The farm is subdivided into three parts (each at a distance of 12 km): The main operation is situated at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level, the second operation at 1000 metres and the alpine pasture at 800 -1300 metres above sea level.
Leitner has 58 suckling cows as well as an “Almo” ox feed lot operation with open-front sloped floor stalling system.
Almgemeinschaft Stoakoglalm – association at approx. 1350 metres above sea level covers a total area of 52 hectares. Of these, 46 hectares are mountain pasture on which there are on average 80 cattle (Almo-oxes, mother cows, breeding heifers). Eleven participants are part of this alp association. Chairman Ernst Hofer is responsible for the Teichalm region.
